The latest and greatest issue of Entertain Magazine is out now!
Its official! the box office has beaten the recession. Aliens, Nazis and Death have saved Hollywood's summer. Thanks to the last-minute surge of District 9, Inglourious Basterds and The Final Destination the industry has set a new box office record yet again.at the time of writing the summer box office looks like winding up about 3% ahead of 2008's summer, which previously held the record with $4.16 billion in ticket sales. What makes it especially welcome news for studios is that there was no single phenomenon (like last summer's $533 million-grossing The Dark Knight) fuelling business.
Instead, it's just a lot of people going to a lot of different movies and that's got to be a great thing. The summer's stand out performers may have been predictable, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, but the success of The Hangover, District 9 and Star Trek was both surprising and a reward for great film making.
This month's Entertain has over thirty new movie previews showing that there's plenty of great flicks still to come before the year is out. So forget the minimum payment on that credit card and go to the pictures instead.
